Adaptation and resilience through partnerships in Lebanon

Lebanese agriculture is struggling due to limited modernization, weak support services, soil degradation, and inflation. This project strengthens the socio-economic resilience of small-scale farmers, associations, and SMEs, focusing on the Bekaa and Mount Lebanon regions.

Small agrifood businesses often lack the resources and tools to adapt their business models—especially in tough market conditions. Many smallholders in Lebanon work individually, making it harder to thrive. This project helps farmers organize into collaborative networks. We facilitate trust-based business relationships, enabling farmers to expand their collective farmland, share knowledge and resources, and adjust production to market needs—such as working with larger livestock populations.

iCRA and Ambero guide this partnership-building process. We train and mentor six regional agrifood trainers, who in turn support fifteen local coaches working directly with agrifood clusters: four wheat-barley clusters, nine legume clusters, and two greenhouse vegetable clusters in Zahlé, West Bekaa, Chouf, and Aley.

Together, we facilitate multiple cycles of action-based learning—moving through phases of planning, implementation, and peer reflection.
