Economic crisis in Lebanon is stifling the agricultural sector. To strengthen resilience, iCRA and Ambero collaborate to build agribusiness partnerships among MSMEs. Strong business relationships will boost productivity and enable agribusinesses to adapt to changed market conditions.
Zoomed in version of a polytunnel in Lebanon

Lebanese agriculture is struggling due to limited cooperation, insufficient support services, declining soil quality and inflation. This project strengthens small-scale farmers’, associations and agri-SMEs’ socio-economic resilience. Our work focuses on the Bekaa and Mount Lebanon regions.

Small-scale agribusinesses often lack the resources and tools to adapt their business models especially in challenging market conditions. In Lebanon, many smallholder farmers work individually. Through this project, those farmers organise themselves into collaborative networks. We faciliate building strong business relationships based on trust, so farmers start pooling their knowledge and resources and improve their cultivation practices.

iCRA and Ambero facilitate the partnership building process. We train and mentor 5 agribusiness trainers. In turn they guide fifteen local coaches working directly with 4 wheat-barley clusters, 9 legumes clusters and 2 greenhouse vegetable clusters in Zahle, West Bekaa, Chouf and Aley regions.
