Our projects enhance agricultural education in Burundi by equipping educators with dynamic teaching methods based on building practical skills. This educational approach creates skilled agricultural entrepreneurs ready to tackle real agri-food challenges in Burundi.

Agricultural Entrepreneurship in Burundi

Our projects with the University of Burundi and several technical agricultural institutes aim to enhance agricultural and entrepreneurial education in Burundi. These projects were: Enseignement Technique Agricole pour l’Employabilité-ETAPE; Projet pour Améliorer la Cohérence de l’Enseignement Agricole-PACEA; Projet Booster l’Entrepreneuriat agricole au Burundi). The primary goal was to equip educators with the skills and knowledge needed to deliver practical and market-relevant training, fostering a new generation of agricultural entrepreneurs.

Innovative training and capacity building

In collaboration with our consortium partners, we designed a comprehensive training program that includes dynamic and interactive teaching methods, practical entrepreneurship modules, and integration of real-world agricultural challenges into the curriculum. Training sessions combine classroom instruction with hands-on exercises, field visits, and study tours. This approach ensures that educators can provide students with the skills necessary for successful agricultural enterprises. By promoting innovative teaching methodologies and building strong partnerships with local and international stakeholders, we aim to create a sustainable and impactful educational framework.

Promoting sustainable practices and entrepreneurship

This initiative has enabled Burundian educators to deliver more practical education. As a result, students are better prepared to enter the agricultural sector as skilled professionals and entrepreneurs. The project’s holistic approach includes a strong focus on gender equality and the inclusion of marginalized groups, ensuring that the benefits of the program reach a broad spectrum of society. By fostering long-term partnerships and enhancing local capacities, we aim to drive sustainable agricultural development and economic growth in Burundi.
