We bolster agricultural value chains in Niger by reducing post-harvest losses and improving storage and marketing techniques. Through innovative training and cluster building, we empower local professionals to drive sustainable agricultural development and food security.

Enhancing Agricultural Product Value Chains in Niger

Our project with the Confédération Coopérative Paysanne Horticole du Niger (CCPHN) focuses on reducing post-harvest losses in the potato, onion, and tomato value chains across Niamey, Dosso, and Tahoua. By providing tailored training, we aim to equip local agricultural professionals with the necessary skills to improve storage, conservation, and marketing of these key crops.

Innovative Training and Capacity Building

Our training program enhances the technical capacities of CCPHN agents through practical, hands-on sessions. These include modules on sustainable production techniques, post-harvest management, and value addition. Participants engage in workshops, field visits, and real-life case studies, ensuring they gain actionable insights. By focusing on agribusiness clusters and fostering business relationships, we prepare participants to implement best practices in their communities.

Promoting Sustainability and Food Security

The initiative aims to significantly reduce post-harvest losses, thereby enhancing food security and farmer incomes. By improving storage and processing methods, farmers can achieve better market access and higher product value. This project also emphasizes gender equality and the inclusion of marginalized groups, ensuring broad-based benefits. Our holistic approach drives sustainable agricultural development, strengthens local economies, and supports the professional growth of agricultural stakeholders in Niger.
