The average age of farmers is increasing. Young people are struggling to find employment, but they don’t see opportunities to generate a decent income in the agri-food sector. It can be challenging for agricultural education institutions to equip their student with practical competencies. As a result, graduates lack the skills required to succeed in the workplace or their own agri-food business. SMEs need more motivated, skilled agribusiness professionals necessary to assure food security.
But it doesn’t have to be like this.
