Boosting Resilient Peri-Urban Family Farming in Burkina Faso

Our project with UMEF University aims to enhance the practical skills of university lecturers in Burkina Faso, focusing on resilient peri-urban family farming. The goal is to equip educators with the latest agricultural techniques and pedagogical methods, ensuring that graduates are well-prepared to support sustainable farming practices.

Interactive, practical training

In collaboration with Campus Globe, we designed a tailor-made training program to address the specific needs of UMEF University. The program includes modules on sustainable water management, resilient agricultural techniques, and agribusiness and entrepreneurship. Training sessions combine online learning with hands-on practical exercises and field visits, ensuring participants gain practical experience. By improving teaching methods and integrating active learning, we aim to transform agricultural education in Burkina Faso.

Promoting sustainable agriculture and employment

This initiative significantly enhances the expertise of university lecturers, enabling them to deliver more effective and practical agricultural education. As a result, students are better equipped with the skills needed to thrive in the agricultural sector, promoting both employment and entrepreneurship. By aligning training with market needs and fostering sustainable farming practices, this project addresses food security and supports rural development. Our holistic approach integrates gender equality and inclusivity, ensuring broad benefits for all stakeholders involved.
